Brooding over family troubles caused the weaking of the old man’s mind. He was married in southern Michigan many years ago and lived happily up to the time of the death of his first wite, and had accumulated quite afortune and owned a valuable farm and orchard. Five children were born to the couple. Up- on the death of his wife Barnhart married again but his second matrimonial venture was- not blessed with any degree of hap- piness, and at last the woman sued for divorce and was success- ful in the suit. A division of the property took place and in the various proceedures that follow- ed Barnhart was deprived of all his property and was left on_ the world penniless. That was four years ago. He came to Beltrami county and settled upon a farm near Solway, where he has lived ever since. Insanity attacks have been fre- {quent and it was found necessary a short time ago to remove him to the county hospital for treat- ment. His condition grew stead- ily worse, however, and at last it was decided by the authorities, to commit to the asylum. i The man is sixty-one years of age and is remarkably well pre-| served physically. He claims that he has never drank intoxi-: cants and does not chew or smoke tobaceo. New Year Opening. Of the Duluth Business Uni- versity will occur on Tuesday, Jan, 8d.
