Charles J. O'Connell, a landscape painter and formerly a policeman, cut | his throat yesterday morning while | suffering from an attack of melan- | cholla. He died within a few mo- ments. He resided with his family at 1 Linden avenue. His brother, Georfie, discovered the dead body in an out- house at 8:45 a. m. after returning from St. Ignatius Church. The suicide retired from the police force about twelve years ago. He was a native of Ireland and 55 years old. Two vears ago while riding with Mar- tin Hogan in a buggy he was thrown out and severely injured about the head. His relatives informed Deputy Coroner Meehan that ever since the accident O'Connell had been acting queerly at times and that he must have been insane when he committed the deed.
