The semi-annual examination of candi- dates by the State Veterinary Medical Board was commenced yesterday at the rooms of the Civil Segvice Bureau in the City Hall, twenty-five candidates present- ing themselves to take part in the exam- ination. Under a law passed by the recent Leg- islature, which goes into effect to-morrow, the candidates who hereafter desire to be authorized to practice as veterinary sur- geons must be graduates of a duly au- thorized veterinary college. The State board will confine its duties to issuing authority to capdidates by examining the diplomas presdfted from recognized coi- leges. ° The examination yesterday was con- ducted by the following members of the State board: Dr. D. F. Fox of Sacra- mento, president; Dr. E. J. Creely of San Francisco, secretary: Drs. W. J. Oliver and W. D. Morrison of Los Angeles and Dr. J. J. Streets of Ventura. The examination held yesterday was written and was confined to the subjects of “Theory and Practice of Veterinary Medieine, Veterinary ~Surgery, Anatomy and Materia Medica.” The examination papers of the candidates will be marked to-day by the State board and the results will be announced to-day.
