LO8 ANGELES, June 24—Iberg was easy for the locals to-day and San Fran- cisco was beaten by the score of 7-to & 8o fierce has the rivalry between the Los Angeles and San Francisco teams grown that the least little thing seems to set them on edge and precipitate a wordy war. Yesterday it was Pabst and Wheeler and to-day Sples, Pabst and Leahy at- tempted to mix matters. In the fourth inning Pabst swung his bat back and struck Spies on the shin. Pabst was.out at first, and, as he walked back, Spies met him half way, stripped off his mask and protector and wanted to know what he meant. They engaged in a wordy war until Leahy rushed out and said to Spies: “If you want to fight, fight me.” Spies made a rush at Leahy and it took all the players and two special officers to hoid the Los Angeles catcher. Sples then invited Leahy outside the grounds, but his invitation was declined. Spies took his seat on the bench, but Leahy con- tinued to talk to the other players. A special officer told Leahy to sit down. There ,was & mix and an exchange of blows between the officer and the San Francisco catcher. Others interfered and the incident closed. In the seventh Ross put the ball over the right fleld fenee, sending Diilon in ahead of him. Attend- and, 2000. Score: R H.
