Files Suit to Compel Carmen | to Reinstate Him as a Member. Jeorge Dingwall, a streetcar conductor, who was expelled from the local branch of the Amalgumated Street Railway Em- ployes' Association last December, filed a. suit yesterday to compel the union to restore him to membership. He alleges at his removal was illegal, because it was accomplished contrary to the by- lews of the association, and was the re- sult of prejudice. According to Dingwall's complaint, he became a member of the union in August, 1901, and in June of the foilowing year he | was elected secretary-treasurer of the or- | gavization. Seven months later he was | expelled from the union on the ground | a consplracy to defeat the aims of the | urion and had accepted part of a fund of | 000- rdised for that purpose. Dingwall | alleges that he was not served with writ- ten charges, as sectiom\37 of by-laws pro- vides, and was dismissed without a trial. | Later, he alleges, he was served with| what purported to be anfended charges, | which bore the signatures of twenty-five | members of the union, the signatures be- | ing nece ry where the charges are pre- | ferred against an elective officer. ~In his case, alleges Dingwall, the sig- natures were obtained by fraud and mis- representation. He alleges that those who signed the document did while under the impr ion that they were signing an amendment to the by-laws.
