In point of beauty it will be ex- celled by few buildings in the city. The amount of money to be spent in construc- | tion has not yet been decided on. The annual entertainment and distribu- tion of prizes of the Pacific Hebrew Or- phanage took place at the Alhambra The- ater yesterday afternoon. The entertainment took the form of a humorous and capitally constructed mu- sical comicality called *“The Pixies’ Tri- | uraph, or Commotion in Fairyland.” It was produced under the direction of rHenry Mauser, superintendent of the or- phanage. The greatest credit is due the superintendent for the admirable stage drilling of the principais and i very clever little people who made up the cho- rus. The children showed a surprising talent as vocalists, dancers and funmakers, The sword drill of the boys was so ex- cellent that the vast audience rewarded them with epplause that lasted some time. The youngsters fenced with “great preci- ston and went through the wholc manual with dash and spirit. The cast of characters in lhe play was as follows: Jewel Scissors, Pixie King, Samuel Hyman: Kncwall Do Little, King's executor, Miiton Wolff; Laughing Gas, Pixie court physician, David Schwartz; Stay Behind, leader of tic Pixie army, Ralph Deutsch; Runaway, cor- poral Pixie army, Samuel Braunstein; Ebony Face, court jester, Ray Lacomy; Queen of the fairies, Sadle Rosenthal; Frunclh eon, Queen’s chief associate, Ray Lacomy: Golden Hair, Queen’s favorite dancer, Mabel Lubelsky: chorus of Pixies and fairies. The distribution of prizes caused no lit- tle interest, and in presenting them to the successful scholars the president, 8. W. Levy, congratulated the reciplents and paid a compliment to the 2000-people pres- ent, who, he said, had not only-doné honor to the orphans by their presence but had ‘honored th!m!e‘vmby being identified with so great a ca The following received prizes: Scholarship nd deportment—George M| Behrendt prize of $200 and silver meflll tor b-vln. the highest percentage for scholarship nd deportment; Mary Braunstein, silver medal ana 3100 tar -chnl-uhip Aand deportment, and an additional $5_for neatn: rtment—Lillian Wolfl and Maurite Har- Zin, $i8 and stver meda; 1ds, Colglen Shapeero, Joseph Silvermap and Max Basker, each P:n‘c‘multy—cenc Laser and Jack Bernstein, eac) Neatness—Sadie Rosenthal and 'Marcus Bern- stein, each $5.
