There was almost a stampede in Judge Conlan’s court yesterday morning when Mrs. J. A. Crawford, 518 Howard street, appeared to answer a charge of interfer- ing with an officer. There was diphtheria in her house, and Policeman Cottle was sent there Saturday to put up a notice to that cffect. Mrs. Crawford tore down the notice and slapped Cottle on the face. Dr. P. A. Kearney testified that Mrs. Crawford’s 13-year-old daughter is suf- fering from diphtheria and that he had so notified the Board of Health.
