CARBON. MONTEZUMA COKE—%0% PCT. CARBON. In the organization and management of the Montezuma Mining Company of Washing- ton the directors are dominated by a single- ness of purpose—to , succeed—to make thelrs one of the big, strong, profit-sharing mining concerns of thie country of tremendous pos- sibilities. Thus far they have met with the fgreatest measure of success possible in S0 short a time. The subauing of a wilderness, which is what the Montezuma has under- is no mean task. The expenditure taken, of both time and money is necssary. Of the former, but a few months have been given to the work, but with the kindly assistance of Nature much has been accomplished; of money, there has been sufficient for current needs, thanks to the shareholders who In the beginning took the Company on faith, but who are rewarded in the possession of stock at small cost. MORE MONEY NEEDED. But ‘more time and more money Wwill be needed to bring the copper mines to a self- sustaining basie. The money is coming in constantly increasing amount, and while the monthly payroll grows larger, mot a cent is. being expended injudiciously. Every dollar is applied under wise and efficlent manage- ment. The ““Tacoma’ tunnel has been driven 160 feet through the ore body, and work ‘will be hastened soon by the introduction of an air drill. The coal mines are being de- veloped rapidly, men being engaged and the water wheel and sawmill therein, will have been installed before our excursion party of shareholders and others reach the mines. Both coal and coke will be pro- duced in considerable quantities during the summer and fall. NOT A RICH MAN'S MINE. The title to the Montezuma e not vested in & few wealthy men. It was the good fortune of a small body of poor men to.get together these properties; and having secured them, they, in & quiet way, did enough de- velopment work to prove their worth. This being done, they were offered ample funds for development—by capitalists who wanted & controlling interest. But the men who had staked so much of their own resources on the Montezume mines preferred to carry out the original plan of making the Company and have rigidly ad- hered to that idea. Holders of the stock will strictly co-operative, share and ehare alike, and the smallest has & volce in the management. @ self-sustaining basis, and are to-day pay- ing handsome dividends to the fortunate holders of the stock. But while the Monte- zuma is Dot a ‘“rich man's mine,” it will | create rich men and give to othefs a com- fortable income. FAVORED BY FORTUNE, If ever a mining company was situated favorably to keep operating expenses at the Jowest possible limit when the time comes for production, that is the Montezuma. It will ‘mine its own coal, make its own coke, and burn that coke in a smelter which It and another company will build, Numerous big veins of coal in the 2000 acres compris- ing the lease make a coke 90.46 per cent carbon, and a ready market awalts such surpl may be beyond the Company’s needs. 'This means no smelting charges, no profit on coke, mo profit on coal, but in- stead the desirable commodities, coke and blacksmithing coal to sell. BATISFIED INVESTORS, A significant fact in connection With the sale of Montezuma stock is the complete sat- isfaction it gives the people who buy it. Of the hundreds of small holders, mot ong is diesatisfied, but on the contrary, every one is firm in the bellef that his money is well spent. The Montezuma Company offers no “get-rich-quick’” inducements to prospec- tive shareholders; it gives every man ‘a chance to buy to the extent of his ability or desire in a legitimate, well-managed min- ing company that has behind it some ex- tremely rich properties, albeit they are for the greater part in the rough. OFPPOSED TO DEBT, While the Montezuma Company must and will have money to continue the development of their properties, they would cease work rather than borrow on s ‘morigage. “No debts, no mortgages,” 18 an establl prin- ciple with the Company, Better & tempo- rary idle property than one plastered with & moriguge, But work will go on, and more vigorousiy " this summer_ then before, They 0 resd and study the Montesuma pros- ptr‘lul have full confidence in the Company, wnd back that eonfidence with thelr money, Their reward will surely come, VIRKT DIVIDENDE vnnu COAL AND It 18 from the prufluru of the eoal mines that the first dividends will eome, The Company has virtaally promised o pay the first dividend this autumn; and this It can easlly do by marketing a eingle train-load of eoul and Its profitable product, soke, This and move It can easlly do; forty wen are w sl work on the conl leases, driving tun- w, puiting in machinery and preparing (o nitla “Aumes profit on (his eosl and seke sapnot he ueed (0 continue development on Lhe cop- per propEriies noF 16 bl Elier, AR vt fotiowina resolution from e Prospéctus f4 the fixe poliey will #how That I Fieepinl v this Campany (o istribite as alvi slockholoers all net profis ea o pany o Wie u. sl o the pol rolnvesting wieh el nu withott pent uf (e stockhalders, I!IIIDVIHT i ver henefiin (hem conduces (o (he ot of _(he Company, inine of ] llu; vy [ m. rmll { wihai- ierenis The Nrst Burpliun sarninEs nmal hodders, and additional sock Niaher price) to bring the m:‘f the wu‘fl paying point Panding the ot of Alvidend, the wiock will be vah el o W few oenis sneh monih, with the deciarstion of u dividend wiil pinoed at 8 true value A MINING BXCUNRRION, Moeing 1o bolleving We are organisl enenurel 1o the mines to va n Frag ehwen 0 6 spsolal (rain of first-olnae l'ul' man oare July 6, Home few shireholders have airesdy wone from Californis, and m turned delighted with what ! waw, This ourslon I8 planned that (he investor may watisfied and the skeptioal convineed, The Jow round-triy rate of #40, Inoluding sleeper, will_enable Almost &ny one o go round-trip teket will #ipplie wun utm purchase of 8000 shares of ook for cash of on easy instaliments.
