Ran on Goat Island in a Fog, but Was Towed Off. The navy tug Vigilant, that plies be- tween the training station on Goat Island and San Francisco, went ashore near the torpedo station Wednesday evening. She left San Francisco at 5:30 g m. in cemmand of Captain Evans, and when the fog came the Vigilant piled up on the beach about a balf mile north of the training station, All attempts to get her off were fruit- less, 80 a message was sent to the Spreck- els Towboat Company and the Reliance was sent to her assistance and towed her off. The Vigilant is badly strained and has one of her stern lines wound up in her propeller. She was laid up yesterday, and the lighthouse tender Perriwinkle made the usual trips in her place.
