At yesterday’s meeting of the executive council of the finance committee, to which has been intrusted the work of collecting the funds for the reception of the home- coming volunteers, good progress was made toward putting solicitors in the field. The list of citizen committeemen was completed and steps were taken to get them into action as quickly as pos sible. The following members of the com- mittee were in atiendance: M. H. de Young (chairman), Henry Sonntag, Paris Kilburn, Julius Kahn, A. J. Raisch, Grove Ayres, J. P. Jackson, A. H. Vall, George H. Pippy (secretary). Checks for the fund were recefved from: Dodge, Sweeney & Co., $100; Newman Levinson, $50; Samuel Rosenheim, $20; Cal- ifornia Saw Works, $25; 1. R. D. Bird, $10. Robert L.
