In fact, in the last two weeks over 1.000,000 pounds of Wool have changed hands. They were all shipping Wools In the grease. There is still ho demand for scoured Wool, and most of the stock in this market is scouring Wool. We will have to walt until there is some demand for it. Trom the East come reports of sales in the three principal markets the past week amount- ing to 5,000,000 pounds at lower prices than ruled two weeks ago. Holders of Wool begin to realize that they made a mistake In holding Wools for extreme prices, and now conclude to accept ruling quotations. ““The London auction sales which closed last Tuesday @id not show any better prices than at the closing sales in October last, with coarse wools and_crossbreds at from 5 to Tia per cent lower. Of course, under existing cir- cumstances, we —cannot import any forelgn Wools, as domestic Wools are from 15 to 20 per cent lower than foreign Wools would cost. This state of affairs Is owing to the very large stock of Wools in the United States which has to be worked up before we can expect al Ithe benefit that the Wool tariff should give us HOPS—1888 crop, 12%4@l4c per b for ordinary, }M@lmfic for good and 16@18c for choice to ancy.
