The Best & Belcher, Hale & Norcross and assessments fall delinquent 1n of- than usual and prices were not over firm. Weekly reports front the leading mines are as follows: Consolidated California and Virginia, level—From north drift skirting along the footwall from the incline upraise, at a point 178 feet on the stope above this level, feet 1n from its mouth, east crosscut No. 2 has been advanced 17 feet, passing through porphyry showing clay separations; total length, 57 feet. From the incline upralse No. 1 at a point 112 feet above the sill floor of this level, from the | south drift at a point 300 feet in from its mouth, near the end of the east crdsscut, a south drift opposite the north drift has been advanced 8 feet, passing through quartz from which we have extracted 12 tons, assaying, per mine car samples, $37 44 per ton. 1650 level— From incline upraise No. 1, at a point 60 feet above the sill floor of this level, from the south drift skirting along the footwall at a point 178 feet in from its mouth, from the top of the up- raise which has been carried up 49 feet from the south drift 100 feet in from its mouth, the upraise has been carried up 8 feet, passing | through quartz and porphyry assaying $1 per ton; total height, 81 feet. From the old east crossscut on the sill floor of this level, at a point 93 feet in from its mouth, from the up- Taise carried up 21 feet from the west drift 3 feet from its mouth, the south drift has been advanced 13 feet, passing through quartz howing narrow streaks and bunches of ore; tal length, 23 feet.
