Theodore Durrant, the murderer of Blanche Lamont, stands a good chance oi eating his Christmas dinner with th- many other murderers in San Quentin prison. Governor Budd, speaking as an attorney, and Judge Carroll Cook say that { the eariiest date that can be set ror his execution will not be before Decemver 13. e cannot be broughtover from the prison to have the day of his death named by the court before December 1, and it has long been the cusiom of the bench not to pronounce the deatu sentence in the last month of the year, when all the world is preparing for the joyful Christ- mas festivities. Judge Cook said last night that there was no reason why that custom should not be adhered to in this case and the day ol execution fixed for early in January. Mrs. Laura ae Force Gordon, attorney at law, has drawn up a petition addressed to the Governor, praying that the death sentence in Durrant’s case be commuted to life imprisonment. Mrs, Gordon claims that the convicted murderer is innocent of the crime ana she is person- aily circulzting the petition. swed 18 pounds. ——————— To Cure a C 1d in One Day gists refund the monev if it fails to cure, 2be. fillies 3 years old (ioals 0f1895), mile and a | The genuiae has L. 5.
