NEW YORK MARKETS, Financial. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 27.—Liguidations were the order of the day at the Stock Exchange, and the lowest figures of the week were made in a number of instances. At the opening the market was Inelined to firmness because of higher cables from London, but the improvement was unimpor- tant. The firmness was short-ived, and before the expiration of the the entire list was on thedown grade. The lack of demand from outside sources was quite pro- nounced, and the dealings for foreign account in- significant. This lefc the market practically in the hands of the traders, and as this class is_bearish for the moment prices yielded anywhere from to 3 per cent. Business was more active, sales sggregating 118,807 shares, a fair toial for a half- holidsy. CHICAGO MARKETS. | CcHICAGO, 1. June 27.—The Board of Trade | people are disposed to enter an emphatic dental of the improved business conditions as reported by prominent peopie in interviews which appeared in a morning paper to-day. The past week has been one of almost unprecedented dullness, and to-day’s session was neither better nor worse than | any that preceded it. The feeling of the wheat | market was easy, a break in the securities in the | New York stock Exchange conveying depression tothe grain business. The news of the day brought nothing cheering to hoiders. The weather contin- | ued good and crops excellent. Liverpool cables | were quiet and steady. Receipts at Chicago were | eizht cars, and 52,914 bushels were taken from store. "The Northwest received 380 cars, agalnst 507 last Saturday and 237 a year ago. Argentine ship- ments of wheat for the week were 320,000 bush- els. American shivments from both coasts for the week were quite liveral at 2,887,000 bushels, but to-day’s Atlantic seaboard clearances were light 2:189,500 bushels. Closing continental ca bles were generally lower. The last half-hour's trading was rendered somewhat conspicuous by the amount of July liquidation which took place, prices weaken- ing further under the weight of cfferings. Sep- tember wheat opened from 568%ac i) 56340, de- | clined to 5574c, where it closed, 35@Yac un _er yes- | terday. Estimated receipts for Mon iay, 16 cars CORN—Moved off lower in price under the weak- | ening influence of wheat. The trade was lizht and nnimportant, with nothing but local interest layed. Receipts were large at 476 carsand 64,075 bushels were withdrawu from siore. Liver- | pool cables were quiet and steady. Argentie shipped 664,000 bushels of corn last week. Export clearances were 75,231 bushels. September corn opened at 2814c, sold at 28c, closing at the inside, 14c under yesterday. Estimated receipts for Mon- a:y, 505 cars. OAT h an undertone of weakness. and & surrounding atmosphere of depression it was hardly to be expected that oals wouid show any inclination to improvement. Recelpts were A38 s, and 512,601 bushels were taken from store. Export clearances were but 250 bushels. Septem- beroats closed l4c under yesierday. Estmaied receipts for Monday 360 cars. FLAX—Was easy. Cash, 78%gc: July, 78c; September, 79%2@79%4c; Decembver, 8134c. Re- ceipts were 19 cars. PROVISIONS—The amount of trade In product was about as usual for a Saturday half holiday. The hog marke: on the last day of the week is sel- dom an important one, and product, excepton ex- traordinary occasions, sympathizes ia the dull- ness. The feeling in (be market to-day was apout steads. Toward the close the weakness of wheat had & discoursging effect. In | some instances quotaions remain unaltered sim- ply for want of transactions upon which to base vatues, but the desire Lo sell seems general and concessions could undoubtedly be obtained upon all except strictly fine qualities, the latter holding ground through scarcily. Last week was a bad one for the Comstocks, for they declined steadily all the week, closing de- Dpressed yesterday at a fail of 150 to 30c from Fri- day’s best prices. The decline during the six days will be seen by the table of fluctuations below. ‘There is nothing whatever (o maintain values at the moment, as there is nothing goinz on in the mines beyond the usual routine work, and there are no ore developmen:s of any consequence any- where. Hence the market s falling back of its own welght and the recent flurry now turns out to have been a mere flash in the pan caused by a pocket find in the Chollar. The Geary-street, Park and Ocean Railroad Company has declared a dividend of 50 cents per share, payable on the 20th. This is the one hun- dred aud thirty-fourth dividend.
