W. H. HAMMON, Forecast Official. NEW YOREK MARKETS. Financial. XEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 19.—The feature of tradiog st the Stock Exchange to-dsy was the heavy liquidations for foreign account. Londen cables received here before the opening showed material dechines in our stocks, aud this was fol- lowed by selling orders of large proportions in Louisville and Nashville, St. Paul and other American shares listed abroad. This foreign sell- ing led to sales by local operators and the result was a drop of anywhere from 1j 10 534 per cent in prices. Rumors of heavy gold exports by Satur- day’s European steamers were put afloat and this added to the depression. It was said st one time that the exports on the day named would reach ten mitlions, but this is an exaggeration and good authorities do not look for shipments of anything like the smount stated. Up tothe close of business ouly $500,000 had been engaged. It is known, however, ments are making for the export of 000 of the metal, and that this v to-morrow. CHICAGO MARKETS, CHICAGO, T11L., Dec. 19.—Not because any new bearish argument was brought forth, but rather because the bulls could present nothing favorable to prices, there was a further decline in the value of whest to-day.
