Luke Shore. 4Union Pacific. National Lead. /U. P., Den. & CHICAGO, IrL, July 25—The wheat boom which began yesterday morning was brought to a sudden stop at the opening this morning. The ad- vance relied on “short” covering for its life, and as that character of buying was absent the market fafled to hold the fuil gain. Although the bulls furnished seemingly incontrovertible reasons for better prices, still they would prefer that some one else would begin the practical work of the cam- paign. There was more outside interest displayed in the market. the galleries being fairly well filled up, but the proportion of buying orders from the public was small. Livérpool cables quoted an ad- vance corresponding to ours of yesterday. This was likewlse the case with Paris and Berlin. ‘The Kansas Millers' Association claim of but 6,000,000 to 10,000,000 bushels vield in that State was disputed by the Daily Trade Builetin, which asserted that the outlook was for 30.000,000. Re- ceipts at Chicago were 58 cars, and the Northwest 184 159 cars. - Witharawals from store were 81,372 bushels. The Cincinnati Price Current was de- cidedly builish in tenor. Export clearances at the seaboard were 113,810 bushels. September wheat opened from 723%ac to 717gc, declined to 703j4c, closing at 70%c, 13sc lower than yesterday. Es- timated recelpts for to-morrow, 65 cars. Corn was lower on larger recelpts than expected, 322 curs.. ‘The change of sentiment in wheat as seen at the ovening was also of some consequence in defining the course of prices. Liverpool cables were scarcely more than steady.
