CHICAGO MARKETS. CHICAGO, IrxL., June 15.—The wheat bulls of the Board of Trade were unhorsed to-day and ronted, temporarfly st least. ‘Wheat, which sold & few days ago at $2%gc, went down to-day witha sickening thud to 7434c.” The loss in P ong stopped with the closing of the session, and was the bottom of a 234c decline compared with the closing fleures of yesterday. All the blg wheat bulls apparently became couvinced some days ago that the advance could not be beld and com- menced to let go their lines. They have been doing thisquietly but effectually, and this unload- ing has been largely respousible for the weakness Wwhich has ruled for some days. Yesterday the fact became kugwy :$ stazted o selling stampede OD the part o P been glefl, by their shrewder associates, and to:day they were tumbling over each other in thelr efforts to get rid of their long stuff, which showed a hand- some profit but & short time ago. As usual, the country was slow getting on, and found iself hold- ing the empty bag. There was a géneral disposi- tion to get ¥id of long stuff, and the lignidation was enormous. “Stop loss” orders and exhausted mar- ins with vicious short-selling by the local talent elped along the downward tendency and com- | pleted the rout of the bulls, The CropTEws was B0 tavorable for the bears. The corn market was fairly active an very weak. July opened at from 49%ec to 49%4c, as agalnst 5ULge at the close yesterday, and after re- Covering 1o 4934c it slumped o 48%4c, which was its value at the close. The ouis marker was active and the business beavy. The decline in wheat and corn depressed the price, closing at a108s 0f Z4c from vesterday. ‘The provision market started weak {n sympatiy with grain, but closed sirong on some good buying, due to the covering of shorts. As a rule prices at the close of last week were Detter than at the beginning, though the Improve- ment did not exceed 10@20c. The feature of the week was the commencement by several Comstock companies of work on the Brunswick lode, which, it is hoped, will result in & new lease of life to deep- level mining on the Pacific Coast. Other mines are expected to follow. Yesterday’'s market was firmer, Con. Cal, & Va. selling at $2 45 and Ophir at ¥1 35 after the board. Chollar sold up to 50c with a 25¢ assessment on. Bodie was weak and declined to 26c. As will be seen elsewhere, the Con. Cal. & Va. mine improved during the past week. The outpui of ore increased from 160 tons to 171 tons, and the average sgsay of the same, as per mine car samples, was 33 ‘er ton, against $38 66 per ton for the previous week.
