Weekly Reports of the Various Mining Superintendents, VIRGINIA CITY, NEv., April 20.—Fol- lowing are the regular weekly reports of | the various mining superintendents on the Comstock lode: CON. CAL. & VA. MINE—1650 level—-On the mmnth floor (the first floor above sill floor of this leve]) the crosseut running east from the drift run south from the south end of the stope has been extended 14 feet, total length 57 feet, continuing in porphiry and quartz, From this east crosscut at & point 28 feet in from its mouth a south driit had been run 15 feet in a quartz formation, assaying from $3 to $5 F“ ton. On {he twelfth floor the drift runnin south from the east crosscut has been extend: 10 feet, total lenfi:h 102 feet; face in low-grade quartz; most of the time was spent in timber- ing the drift. The drift rnnmng north on the fourth floor from the opening which was made from the drift run south from the end of the east crosscut from the main north lateral drift on the sill floor of this leyel has been extended 30 !efzt, total tength 40 feet: face in low-grade uartz. e 1750 level—The drift running north from the end of the east crosscut started from the end of the drift running south from the south end of the stope on the fourth floor above the sill floor on this level has been advanced 14 feet, total Jength 34 feet, all the way in ‘ore; the ore in the tace averages $33 38 per ton. From this north drift at a point 20 feet in from its mout| we have carried up an upraise 14 feet of the size of one square set of timbers opening at the fiith floor in ore assaying $75 per ton. From this locality we have extracted during the week 123 tous of ore, the lver,]ge value of which per mine-carsample was$5178 per ton. On the west side of the south drift on the sill floor of this level at a Tln( 15 feet north from the incline winze sunk from the 1700_level we have exca- vated in the footwall 17 feet in a southwest course, and thence have run a drift in a south- erly direction 29 feet in the west country rock. OPHIR—1465 level—The drift running north from the top of the upraise which was carried up 80 feet above the floor of this level from a point in the east crosscut from the main north Jateral drift has been extended 20 feet, total length 278 feot; face in porphy and quartz of low assay value. Central tmm:f—m level—From the main south driit from th bottom of the winze sunk from the tunnel level at a point 85 feet south from the winze a west crosscut has been run a distance of 33 feet in a quartz formation of low assay value. Tunnel level—The old crosscut running west from the end of the drift run north from the end of the west crosscut from the north drift from the Mexican shaft has been reopened12 feet, total length 84 feet; face in new ground consisting of porpnyry showing lines of UATtZ. e top of the upraise has been car- ried up 46 feet above the tunnel level near the station of she winze that connects with the 250 level. We have mfened an old north drift for a distance of 93 feet, the last 40 feet bdg ina 'q&nl: formation ‘which assays $2 an per ton.
