REPORTED The police are investigating a ease of alleged insult to Miss Daisy Col- lier a young of the Boaz Station seot- jon. Sne came to the city and was to return home in a buggy witha yound man named Bosz, of the same neighborhood. Soon after they left the city, ac- cording to reports, she discovered that he was under the intluence of liquor, and on West Tennessee street jumped out of the buggy and went to her aunt’s, where she re- mained, leaving the young tot who is alleged to have insulted her, to go home alone. Some of the girl’s relatives are very indignant, and threaten to swear out a warrant MR. EADES’ SUCCESSOR. There Is Much Guessing as to Whom He Will Be. There is considerable guessing who will be Councilman Eades’ successor in the council. Among those men- tioned are Mr. Henneberger, as men- tioned the other day, Dr, Yeiser, and others. It is thought that the council would be inclined to elect the ex- mayor, who says he is not a candidate, but who would accept the place, his friends believe, if it were offered to him. The only question is to his eligibility, as some claim that his home is not the city. His residence in Arcadia, however, is bis Gummer residence, and this would make him eligible. Mr, Hen- neberger is also very popular, and has been in the council before. Dr. Jeff Robertson is chair- man of the committee, and the investi- gation will be made because aid that the city owns a la number of the posts, and that private citizens own many. The probability now is that the government will put up its own mail box posts instead of using those of the city electric lights, permission to du which the postmaster was accorded at the council meetiog Monday night. The government has notified the post master to notify the ( company to remove none of the posts, until it can determine what is to be done, It is deemed advisable to use none of the electric light poles because they have to be taked down and replaced by new ones every few years. The machine was to cost nothing, and was to have different keys, which when pressed after the proper coin bad been dropped into it, would bring forth an envelope containing the stamps. The envelopes were to contain tue name of the firm, as w as those of other firms that paid $3 month for the privilege of having their ‘‘ad’? on the envelopes. ‘This is where the merchant was told he made his money. Kach one, how ver, had to pay $2 in advance, and this was all the entire outtit was to cost him, A dozen merchants took machines, and that is the last heard of them of the map, or the two dol- lars, DIED OF THE INJURY, Miss Bulah Sargent, aged 14, died about noon today at the home of her sister, Mrs. Williams, in Rowland- town, from the effects of an injury received a few days ago.
