Wraugled Oyer it All Morning and Deferred it This Afternoon. Fiscal court came to a halt on the steam heating question this mornin, urs thatthe bone of conte bid sent in by Mr. Hannan, of the city. Mr Hannan represents a Chicago concern, and his bid did not arrive from Chicago until the day following the day for receiving proposale. Thr other bids had then been opened, and the figures published in the paper, consequently the con- mittee declined to receive Mr. Han- nan’s bid, which was lower than any of the others The court is now at loggerheads over the bid, and this morning voted on all bids, and rejected them, ex- cept that of the Front Rank Company, of St. Louis. The vote on this stood four for acceptance and four for rejectioa, and thus it stood when court adjourned at noon, After the forenoon wrangle, the magistrates went home to dinner and this afternoon met and postponed the heating question until tomorrow af- ternoon at 2 o'clock. Nothing was done in this court up to press time except the accept- ance and payment for three bridges. Other bridges were being considered this afternoon, SIR EDWIN AKNOLD. More Fast ayeling Season ‘his Following is an account of the free-for-all pace won by Sir Edwi Arnold at Columbus, Ohio, July in which he defeated Lottie Loraine the champion pacing mare of the world. Sir Edwin also won the free- for-all at Lima, Ohio, in very fast time and the 2:10 pace at Napoleon, Ohio, y easily last week. They ship n Columbus to Detroit, Mich., and start in the free-for-all pace there next week. A Columbus paper said of the race there: The free-for all pace opened with Dan T and Sir Edwin Arnold favorites by choice at 4 to 2 each, Lottie Loraine was apparently in bad form and lost out in this heat by wreaking at the turn. Dan T secured a good lead and held it to the end, finishing under a pull, ‘The second heat was a duplication of the first, with the exception that Dan T broke within fifty feet of the wire, pressed by Lottie Loraine, yet recovered quickly and won by nearly alength. ‘The three succeeding heats were all taken in handy style by Sir Edwin Arnold, who suddenly shifted in the betting from a 5 to l shot to an even money favorite in the third and 1 to 10 in the fourth and fifth. Arnold's strength was apparent throughout (hese heats, the others having run mut at the start, At no time was bis opposition dangerous, Pottann, iv C, Tuompson, Db. C R Groncr O.
