PARRISH REPORTS METHOD One man, farmer and banker com- bined, came to Omaha bright and carly this morning from the extreme western part of the state, expecting to attend the federal land bank hearing in Omaha, He was greatly disappointed when he learned that the hearing was not to be held until September 22. The original announcement out was that the hearing would be held in Omaha, September 18. This man put off ship- ping his cattle until now, because he wanted to be on the market the day of the hearing. “These dates have confused a lot of people,” said E. V. Parrish, manager of t{)l ‘bureau of publicity, who is pre- paring figures d maYs to be used at the hearing. “We will have to pound it into the heads of oeople that this hearing will occur in Omaha Friday, September 22, The error, which oc- curred in the dispatches again Mon- day morning, indicating still another date, was an unfortunate thing. have just returned from Denver, where ‘1 attended the hearing held there.. I was assurred apain there that the meeting in Omaha would be on September 22, and that is when it will be. Open to the Public. “The meeting here will be open to the public, and the board especially desires that all citizens of Omaha, and farmers of the state, attend this meeting, and present their views on the need of a bank for Nebraska." It has now been definitely stated that the announcement of the loca- tion of the banks will not be made until about Christmas. i : To correct an erroneous impression as to the method of locating the bank, the members of the board desire that it be known that these banks will be located absolutely upon the merits of the needs of the various parts of the agricultural United States. sire specific information as to farm loan needs, such as facilities for get- ting loans, rates of interest paid and difficulties of renewals of mortgages. They urge that every one interested shnlf’be present at the Omaha hearing. Another meeting of the local com- mittee working up a land bank case for Omaha was held at noon at the Commercial club rooms. E. V. Parrish made his report of the pertinent things that developed in the hearing he attended at Denver. Taube, of Letters 0f Love Fame, Weds The Brooklyn Lady Following hard upon the divorce suit of a Brooklyn (N. Y.) man, who named William E, Taubc, formerly of Omaha, introducing as evidence several feverish letters, which were read in court and caused quite a sen- sation, comes the announcement that Taube and Mrs. Marjorie Dean Cron- krite, to whom he had written the passionate missives, had married. Taube and Mrs, Cronkrite, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will- iam Myer Dean, a well known Brook- Iyn family, were married in the east- ern city {'hursdayA James E. Cronkrite sued his wife for divorce in the courts at Chicago. The now widely discussed letters, written by a former bachelor of prominence here, contained passages that made even some of the old tim- ers in the love letter-writing game sit up, take notice and muse over the fact that they had forgotten many, many fine points of the game. Indian Mother Did Not Raise Her Boy To Be a Sailor Lad When Andrew F. Solomon of Walt- hill, a young Winnebago Indian, ap- plied at the local navy recruiting sta- tion for enlistment, Mrs. Nettie Solo- mon, his mother, who accompanied him, refused to sign his age certificate, She explained l?ut her son was ded- icating his career to Uncle Sam against her wishes, averring that she would do all in her power to prevent him from becoming a “fighting man Young Solomon, however, finall convinced Lieutenant W. Omaha costumers have started to send out the S. O. S, signal to fellow- costumers in other cities. For the Omaha costumers are in a sad plight. So great has been the demand for costumes for the night of October 7, the night of the Ak-Sar-Ben masked ball at the Den, that Omaha dealers in carnival garments have reached the end of their rope. There isn't a fancy costume in Omaha that hasn't got a lease for October 7 on it. Thus are the local costumers send- ing out the distress signal to other cities so they can procure costumes to fill orders which continue to come in every day.
