Council Bluffs Social Notes The Happy Thought club will meet Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs A. Jones. The kensington tea, which was to have taken place Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. I. W. Pence for the Oakland Avenue chapter of St. Paul's guild, has been postponed indefin- itely A banquet was given by the Sun- 3 day school council of the Second Presbyterian church at the Young Women's Christian association in honor of the members of the high school graduating class who belong to that church. Ten guests of honor were entertained. Mrs. F. W, Dean entertained the Garden club Tuesday afternoon at her home on Oakland avenue. The members spent most of the afternoon visiting the gardens at the home of J. J. Woodward and that of the host- ess. A paper was read by Mrs. An- geline Brinsmaid on the subject of vines, the varieties suitable for this climate, the planting and methods of care. After the djscussion, Mrs, Dean served tea, assisted by Mrs, Brins- maid. Mrs. A. H. Hanchett will be hostess at the next meeting, June 13 A paper on “Shrubs for Bloom” will be given by Mrs. C. T. Officer. The marriage of Mr. Bernard Oys- ter and Miss Anna May Norgaard was solemnized at the manse of the Sec- ond Presbyterian church Tuesday evening. Rev, George A, Ray per- formed the ceremony. Mr, Wayne H, Copeland and Miss” Mabel Norgaard were the attendants. Stratton, Miss Margaret Powers, Mr. Pitt of Oma- ha and Mr. Milton D. Clark gavo vo- cal numbers and Miss Kiger gave violin solos, and a pianologue was given by Miss Bess Battey. Miss Thora Lefferts and Miss Margaret Goodwin danced and readings were contributed by Miss Cora Gretzer and Mrs, Dollie Burgess. The Daughters of the American Revolution held their annual meeting Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. P. Schoentgen, As a result of the election Mrs, E. P. Schoent- gen was made president, Mrs. W. I Stillman, vice president; Mrs. Frank Pinney, recording secretary; Miss Mollie Rice, corresponding secretary; Mrs. John Melhop, jr., treasurer; Mrs. Drayton W. Bushnell regis- trar; Miss Caroline Dodge, historian; Mrs. Mathew W. Tinley, auditor; Mrs. J. W. Squires, chaplain. The committee of safety was composed of Mrs. Robert B. Wallace, Nrrq. An- geline Brinsmaid and Miss Mary P, Denny. A report of the national con- tinental congress, held in Washing- ton in April, was given by Mrs. C. Francis, who represented the local chapter there. Miss Alice French of Davenport, state president of the Colonia' Dames, was guest of honor of the chapter and made a talk, de- livering the greetings of the Colonial Dames.
