Persuasion will bo tried and if that fails a restraining order will stare the councilmen in the face Yesterday afternoon the association held & meeting and speedily reached the conclu sion that heroic measu to prevent the ten rs contract being foisted upon the people, Mayor Bemis was present, as well as Councilmen Munro and Jacobsen The mayor was there to listen, he said, and did not of 1y sugeestion to whether he would approve the contract or not. Mr. Munro explained the terms of the contract and gave his views of the matter, being the same as printed in Tie Bee Mr. Hicks, Mr. Perrine, Mr. Cathers and the other gentlemen present expressed the same views regarding the contract, and there was not . voice raised in its defensc, Nothing was found to commend it to tho peonle. After a running discussion ) dulged in for a few minutes a motion was adopted to the effect that a committee of three be named to wait upon the members of the council and secure pledges from . sufli- cient number that they would vote to sus tain & veto from Mayor Bemis to prevent the ung passed over the mayor hea se it 1s impossible to sccure such promises the committee was empowered to apply to the courts for a restraining order. The committee is composed of Boggs, Cathers and Patterson, Views and Interviows, The more the contract is looked into and discussed, the more convinced be- come some of the councilmen that they were too ty in approving it.
