CHICAGO IS PLAYING HOG Efforts of the Windy Oity to Queer Omaha’s 8hooting Tournament. WILL HAVE A COUNTER ATTRACTION odges of Support Made at St. - Other Associations Kemuin yal and Will Come to the Meeting ut Omaha. Breakin Thero is blood in tho eyos of the German marksmen of Omata and the west, and it 1s all caused by the attempt of the marksmen of Chilcago to hog tho Attractions for next year (o tho detriment of this city. In the case wbat is now demanding atten- tion, the succees of the meoting of the Na- tiounl Shooting association tournament, to be held in this city next summor, very largely depeads. Aud there s quite @ story 10 connection with the manner in which the Windy City members of tho association are working ngainst Omaha, T'ho association moots and at the tournament in St, Louis last year Omahaand Chicago were bidders for the next meeting. T'he contest was quite spir- fted, but Omaba won it honustly and fairly end was assured of the hearty co-operation ol tho marksmen of the World's fair city. It was proposed to make the tournament next two years, year a big event for tho shooters of the world, and to enlarge the or- ganization and make it of an inter- nutional character. Thoe local clubs went to work at once and have been actively engaged in intercsting the shooting clubs of the coun- try in the meoting and have been very suc- cessful, 1t had been decided to run special trains from Chicago to Omaha to givo the visiting marksmen from aoroad=a chance to take part in the tournament, ‘TLe guaranty furd has been practically secured uud the outlook was very promising for the biggest meeting of the club ever held. But berethe Chicago members of the asso- ciation showed their hana, After pledging their support to Omaha ot the St. Louis meeting they went home ad have since been fndustriovsly at work trying to kill the meot- ing by u rival attraction. The On bers were very much surpr k aiscover thut circulars were being eent out from Chicago aunouncing that an interna- tional shooting tournament would be held 1n that city during the World’s fair and on the dates of the regular tournament of the asso- ciation in this city. 1t was this civcular that brought Louis Bicher, ex-vice president of the association, from tis home in St. Louis to Omaha yesterg da; M. Sicher is very indignant over the a ticn of the Chicago members of the associa- tion and terms it an outrage upon the asso- cialion and an insult to the other membel who voted for Omuha and are working for tho success of the meeting in this city. “Chicago pledged her support to Omaha at the Louis meetiog,” said Mr. Sicher, tand their recent action in trying to break up the meeting is cowardly and a sample of contemptibly bad faith.” Secretary Louis Heimrod of the locul asso- ciution hus addressod letters to all ihe eluds iu the asscciation asking them whether they will abide by the action of the meeting at Louts aud como to Omaha for the to meit, or whether they will g1 to Ci to join the seceders who aro trying to br up the as:ociation. Louis didu’t put Lis let- ter in just those terms, but he maae it plain esouch, He stated that the Omaha members of the association were ready to carry out the promises made at the last moeting when this city was selected and would entertain the assoeiation in a royal manner, but did uot pronose to go ahead and make arcangements for the tournament unless the clubs weuld come to uhis city and make th meeting o winuer. He has received answe: 10 some'of these leiters and they are filled with ussurances that Chicago 1s not runuing the association ana that Omaha will get tho suprort of every membor of the association wilh the possible exception of Chicago. Mr. Sicher says that St. Louis will stand by the agtjon taken ut the last meeting and will pot ln as much time and money as any other ci to help Omaha along with the tournament. The local elubs wiil go to work at once in th rangements for the mecting which will be ono of the largest gathering of marksmen ever held io this or any other count| e i It Is what Hood's Sarsaparilla actually docs that tells the story of its merit and has Fiven it the lurgest aule of uny medicine.
