Iujuries May Prove Fatal. Word was received from North Lincoln this afternoon that Mrs, Henry Atkins, an estimablo Jady of that suburp, 18 likely to die from the effccts of injuries received in this city last Thursday evening. Mrs, Atkins was at Nisslég's ary goods store on I streot on that evening, when one of the clerks opened a trap door in the sidewalk in order to de- scend to the suby Mrs, Atkins pos- sesses defective eyesight and failed to no- tice tno open trap door. Shestepped into the opening. and was precipitated heavily to the grothud, a distanco of about cight feef. Several ribs wero broken, her back wrenchea and other portions of her body in- jured. She was apon v not seriously in- jured when taken from the subway and was removed to ber home, where nothing more was heard from ber uutil this afternoon. Her condition 1s now said to be serious.
