A special ; meeting of the Western Passenger associa- tion was held at nis office this morniug and the matter was thoroughly discussed by the representatives of iuterested lines, They wore not of one mind as to the advisability of making so low a rate, although it was ad- mitted that cut rates were officially an- nounced from Cineinnati, Columbus, Indian- apolis. Fort Wayne and other poits east of Chicago. No conclusion being reached, Chairman Culdwell had u hearing this afternoon for the purpose of taking the testimony of parties directly iuterested in the question.
