Anua Cernes, a woman who has been liv- iog for some time past near the river, met with an accident vesterday aftornoon which it was first feared would result fatally. She was driving up Broadway, and when she ‘was opposile the waterworks power house the whistle suddenly blew, frightening her horse so that it rearea and plunged until the buggy was overturned and Mrs. Cernes wis thrown with & great deal of force to the ground. Coroner Maul was notified and will aecide about holding an inquest today. Miss Jones left a letter with a friend sealed, stamped and addressed to Charles Burd with the request that the note bo mailed this morning.
