Fob, 17.-The stock market was comparatively guiet today and moved within narrow mits when compsred with the wid, fluctuations of the last two weeks, and while there was considerablo hammering by the boars, prices were gencrally strong in the forenoon, but ylelded more readily lator in theduy. The substantiul part of the move- ment was the roalization in Reading and the pressure of short stocks in the remaluder of the list. The market was rather irregulur throughout the greater partof the day and desplte the weakness of the general list i the afternoou, specialties like Tennesseo coal. the Lake Erle & Western stocks, and the Chesa- peake & Ohlo, made substantial progress to ward Ligher prices.
