Christiun Endeavor day was observed by this society last Sunday, Special exercises were given in the evening. Mr. Charles Spoar of Missouri, a former member, was & welcome visitor last Sunany, - Chamberlain & Co. From the Clinton County Advertiser, Lyons, Ta, It was tho good fortune of a reprosentative of this papor to visit the laboratory of this enterprising irm at Des Moines one day thi woek. It occupies four floors of a double building and employs sixty-five hanas in the different departments, which include the compounding of the different preparations, bottiing, packing, shipping and printing, In the latter department they have a finely equipped printing office, with bolf a dozen prosses, which ato kopt' noarly constantly in nrrrnllnu priating labels and differont kinds advertising matter. Their laboratory is especially busy at this time, as Chamber- lain’s Cough Romedy, which thoy manufac- ture, has proven n splendid romedy for the grip, aud n all cases groatly relieves the patient after taking one or two doses, while its continued use will effect a complate cure, 25 and 50 cent boulul for salo by druggists, WOES oF ORAIN MEN. They Declare In Favor of Gomng Back ta Their O1d Organizath After the grain call on the Board of Trade yesterday afternoon a very large sized hor unt’s nest was stirred uv and for a time things weroe pretty livoly. Tho ball was set rolling by B. Fowler of the KFowler Elovator company, who called attention to the light attendance at the daily sessions of the board and remarked that the board ought to furnish the daily market re- ports and post ther in tho exchange room. “You cun't get a crowd together,” con- tinued tho speaker, *“‘unless you have some- thing tointerest them and the markots aroe what businoss men are iaterosted fu. We should have the markets not ouly from Chicago, but from those points whera Nobraska grain is being sold, as T' u‘miu. B timore, Philadelphia, ete. 1 can’t see why the board should not do this, and I would suggest thut the grain committee take tha matter in charge and find out what can be done. You have not yot brought in the feed men who are grain buy 1 paid 50 to gotinto this boara, aud am paying $ month dues, and have received nothing i return, If the Board of Trade will not p in the markets I beliove the grain men had better do it.” C. H. Fowlov of the same company and chairman of the grain committes remarked that it would be & good plan to draw up a written request to the board of airectors and if they refused to act the grain men could then take some action, At this point the talk became general and excited. Some one wanted to know how the Board of Trade could be expected to pay for markets when they could not even pay $25 month for somo one to make the daily cal ’ but wanted a subscription taken up to -pay the expenses. Another voice was heard to exclaim, “We have about made up our minds if we cannod wot what we were promised wo will revive the old grain and produce exchanee.” This remark was pretty generally applauded. It will be remembered that the grain men organized au exchange immediately after the warehouse law went into effect, but owing to the inducements held out by the Boara of Trade they consented to join the latter or- ganization. The exchange, however, was never formally dissolved. The officers wero elected for a year, it being remarked at the time thah if it did not work well in the Board of Traae they could withdraw and call a meeting of the exchange and be in full running order. Mr. Connor succeeded 1n making himselt heard at this point and remarked that he be- lieved the board of directors would grant the request for markets if they were approached in the right manner. Mr. Miller thought that the two brokers doing business in the Board of Trade build« ing wore getting very full markets and one of thom ought to be paid to post those mar~ kets in «be traders’ room whero they would be open to the public. It had boen the cus: tom for every one to run into the brokers' rooms und look over their markets which wi not pleasant for people who were doing bus ness through other brokers, Mr. Walsh thought that some broker ought to be given the useof the exchange room Iree in consideration of his posting the nare kets, This was objected toon the ground that such an advantage given to one brokes would drive a!l tho othors out of business, The talk continued as the board gradually adjourned by walking out into the halls, and it was some time before the crowd dispersed. As nearas can be learned the whole trouble has arisen from the non« fulfillment of promises mado by the Board of Trade to the grain men. Before the grain men gave up their own organization they were distinctly promised that they should have the markets furnished them. or soma timo there has boen a growing focling of di satisfaction among the graw men, due to number of small matters rather than to any one singlo circumstance. -~ Dewitt's Little Early fisers, est pily e It is n curious fact thut whilo some of the fair sex this summer will wear the masculing neglige shirt without an abbreviction of the tails, 50 as to get the fullness about tho wais{ over tho edgo of the belt or sash, the men ar¢ trying to do away with the warm weathex irksomeness of euspenders by utilizing the igo shirt walst with the trousers of the outing regime, ————— Dewitv's Little Karly Risers, best pill. it “My darling,” she murmured, “you know that 1 love vou.
