The fire and police commission met in reg- ular session last evening. Mayor Cushing presided. Commissioners Bennett and Swith ‘were absent. Charges were preferred againsu Oficer Robert McBride. The officer is charged with leaving his beat and going into saloons and drinking on two different occusions. Mc- Bride was called up and made a statement, Ppleading guilty 10 having been in the places charged but denied having drank anvihing. The case was postponed until next Monday might. A communication from Chief Seavey was read asking whether he should continue to have sick aud injured people taken to the po- lice station or whether he shoula have them taken to the county hospital. Mayor Cush- ing sigaified his intention of having an o dinance drawn covering such cases when t new charter is passed. Commissioner H man claims that the city does more than i share of such work in moving and caring for such people. His honor said that the city of Omaba pays nine-tenths of the county taxes and yet receives no benefit from the county hospital. Tne council will be requested fo look into the matter and see that the county does its share.
