Council Bluffs Carpet company. e S A New Mercantile Company. About the time the Eiseman stock was sold there was a rumor afloat that a stock com- pany had been organized for the purpose of bidding in the stock and carryiug on the business at the old stand. On the day of the sale Benjamin Eiseman, who was on the ground in the interest of the new company, was served with a number of garnishment papers, which, if he had bought up the stock, would have landed him squarely in the midst of something over a dozen law suits. He con- cluded not to buy, and from that time to this nothing has been heard from the company. Yesterday articles of incovporation were filed in the ofiice of the county recorder by the “Council Bluffs Mercantile compan the members of which are Beojamin Eise- man, G. . Wright, J. N. Baldwin, J. F. Kimball, George A. Keeline and Samuel Hdas, Thecapital stock is $100,000. This company is the one which was formed at that time ana the articles were drawn up und signed then. Mr. Eiseman would not onsent to goon with the business, and as he was the principal stockholder the idea had to be given up for the present. The fact that Mr. Eiscinan has agreed to let the articles be filed is regarded by muny as an indication that the old Eiseman stand will be opencd at no distant day as a perma- nent Council Bluffs institution.” One of the local members of the company stated yester- day that the store would be opened jus s00n as the law suits above referred to could be gotten out of the way. How long this would be he could not say, as things in law are very, very uncertaiu, but Qe did not hink that 1t would be a great while. When the store is opened under the new management it is said that it will be more of a “general store” thau be/ove. A furniture and carpet department will probably be added, and in every way it will be runt on strictly metropolitan privciples.
