New Yorg, Jan. 10,—|SpecialyTelegram to Tur Bee. |—Srocks—There was less char- woter to the early stock market today. In many steoks there was very light busincss and no ‘change in values. Expressious at leading resorts last night gave little indica- tion of the temper of trade this morning. There was an outspoken belief that the low values for farm products in the west will more than balance the good effects of the big crops and heavy carrying busivess for the Granger roads, This has taken the edge off the buying of these stocks. There was bardly a trade in Burlington, North- western and Rock Island the tirst hour. The Coul stocks, and especially Reading aud Sugar Reflueries, continued to hold the at- tention of traders in the stock market this moruivg, and while there was a moderately active business done, those stocks were re- sponsible for the great bulk of it. The att- tude in Reading is still a waiting one, but the long stock, especially from the smalier holders, continued to come out and tho pres- sure upou the leaders gave the market a heavy toue, although fluctuations in the gen- eral list were entirely wsigniticant and the business done was vory small, The opening vrices showed some Irregularity as compared With those of last evening, but were genor- ally from X to }§ per cent lower, and Sugar Refineries were off 1'§ per ceut. athizg.
