Lee Dixon filed a petition in the district court yesterday aftornoon, asking for a divorce from William A. A complaint was filed in the police court by Fred Ullman, charging H. S. Cox with obtaining money under false pretenses. The spec tions are that Cox represented that Mary Cox was sole owner of certain goods and chattels con- tained in the restaurant at No. 418 South Fifteenth street, valued at #372.25. The fire and p commission held a special session last evening to consider the matter of re-granting a liquor license to A. M. Blair, whose license was revoked on the 16th of last month. Blair was tried in the police court on the charge of selling liquor ©a Sunday at his place, on Third aud Pine, and was found guilty. Theroupon his license was revoked. The case was appealed to the district court and the result was a reversal of the verdict in favor of Blair. Suit was commenced in the district court yesterday afternoon by Francisco Morosca and seven other Italians against Jacob Levi, a South Omaha justice of the peace, and his bondsmen. The action is to recover §77.75, for which amount the plaintffs secured judg- . ment against J. Oakley, a South Omahn &rading contractor. The petitioners allege that Justice Levi retused to issue execution under their judgments for a long while, and finally released Oakley by ussuming the in- debtedness, which he now refuses to pay. Car Arrangements, The shortening of tho Thirteenth and fair grounds street car line to the Thirtegnth and ‘Webster street depot line means merely a discontinuance of cars between the Webster street depot and Lake street. From Lake street north to the fair grounds cars are still run, making conneetions with every cable train, the transfer being made withofit extra charge, The shortened line running from the Webster street depot south on Thirteenth street gives the people living on the south side of the city better facilities, as the cars oW run on that Line every five minutes, Increased Valuation, The township assessors ave turning their books over to the county commissioners, who &are now sitting as a board of equalization, ‘The books which have been computed show a £reat increase in property values over last 'u:r.
