Mauer, Crushed Through His Own Negligance Coroner Drexel held an inquest over the remains of F. W. Baker, who was killed Sun- day afternoon in the transfer yard of the Union depot at Council Bluffs. The evidence went to show that the deceased attempted to cross a line of cars thut were being switched. He warned by the several witnesses who were present at the time not to attempt such a thing, but paying no attention to the warn- ing Buker attémpted to squeeze in, and was caught between the draw-bars. Death en- sued a few minutes after the deceased was extricated from the cars, The jury returned the verdict “that the sed had been killed by being crushed between two cars, and that the accident had oceurred owing to his own negligence.” The body will be forwarded to Farley, Ia.
