The first of the famous “squatter cases” came up in the district court yesterday morn- ing before Judge Ca There aro fifteen g the own- ership of n hundred lots in Brown's subdivision and I 'y addition in the west- ern part of the city. About twelve yi ago the defendants took possession or squat- ted on that land, then a tract of willows and weeds, and have since resided there. The law provides that they must hold the land in undisputed possession for ten years, and claim all of that time to own the land. The defendants allege that they have done this, but the bl oge that the squatters. have ot med to own it, The case called yesterday was that of Han- nan vs Marr, The jury was empanclied, and the greater part of “the day spent in arguing motions.
