B., pastor of St. Peter's German Catholic church, has been called to take chargo of St. Benedict's parish at Atchison, Kan., of which he was formerly pastor. He will leave for that place to-morrow evening, Father Wesseling has been here only a year or so, but has done much 10 soshort a time. He has erected one of the finest churches in the city and gath- ered a large congregation, Many outside of his church, as well as inside of it, will regret his departure. He is a most scholarly man aud his heart is as big 1w proportion as his brains. His successor is Rev. Herman Mengwasser, a graduate of the university of Louvam, Belgium, and lately professor in St. Bene: diet’s colleg welcomed al succ Atchison. R Both Legs Broken. Lucius Remill, an employe of the Mar- seilles Manufacturing company, met with a serious and painful accident yesterday morn- ing. He was engaged in adjusting the ele- vator guy-rope at the top cf the company’s warehouse, on South Main street, when he made a misstep and fell to the basement, a distance of about thirty feet. Both bones of each leg were broken below the knee, und the victim was severely shaken up and bruised. He came here recently from Illi- nois, and has no relatives in the city. He was taken to the W. C. A. hospital, where he was attended by Dr, Hanchett. During the day a banner bearing the faces and names of the candidate for chief executive and his vice was stretched across Broadway in front of the headquarters. Early in the evening a large number gathered, and headed by Dal- by’s band made a little parade. There were about three hundred men in line. After the walk and the music the crowd adjourned to Dohaney’s opera house, where for an hour and & half the Hon. H M. Pusey addressed the audience. Rena- hen and her husband, Michael Renahen, for $200, which she claims on a promissory note given her by the first named defendant, and for $10 for room and board for two weeks, and $10 in money loaned her to allow Mrs. Renahen to leave town. The case grows out of & marriage and di- vorce proceeding which was aired during the last term of court. Mrl Renahen had purchased a lot, and ing for it in small payments.
