As everyone he@® knows, this # property was built by Mr. Geise, and by him used as a family residence until he removed from the city. The grounds are most ad mirably suited to their present purpose. They are situated in the northeastern portion of the city, and at an elevation which com mands & magnificent view of this city and the southern portic f Omaha o 211, A succession of aces rises fre to & beautiful spot. It is well protected and shaded by woody hills upon either hand. A broad lawn stretclies away from the build- ings upon three sides, Surrounding the building, which is a substantial brick structure, ave piazzas, which give a happy relief in the architectural design. Entering a spacious hall you pass into the front room or parlor proper. Adjoining this is is the medicine dispensary and operating room combined. At the rear of these is hat will be the industrial department, or wing room, while back of all is the kitchen proper, which will be used as a dining room for the patients, Dircetly back of the hall 1s the male ward, This is a very large rosm, having space for six or more cots, Adjoining this at the rear is a private room for gentlemen, and connecting with this a commodious bath-room, In the basement are the sisters’ dining-room, kitchen, laundry, engine room, vegetable cellar, ere. Passing into the second story at the rear you find yourself in a large room, v ch will be fitted up and used as a bath room for female patients. A large wide hall runs the length of the building. Opening from this are two private rooms for patients, nd two others, which from their location are the finest in the These command a view of the south which is s beautiful as it is expansive Upon this floor, also, is the chapel, which has been fitted up clegantly. At the front is the woman’s ward, which sustains the same relation to the whole as the same below, which 1s devoted to the male patients, At the head of the stairs is a commodious linen closet. All of the rooms_are supplied with this most necessary adjunct to a perfect house. The sisters’ dormitory occupies the third story in the main building, while the room for the help is just back of this. Al of the rooms are large, with high ceilings, which gives perfect ventilation and plenty of light. Water is supplied to every portion of the house, and the arrangements for heat are the best possible to be secured. sisters are fortunate indeed in having such a valuable and well arranged hospital. The patients now there, five m number, are charity patients. This can be truiy said to the credit of the order of which these noble women form a part, that no case of suffering or destitution is turned away from their doors, Their work is regarded as a divine , and in its faithful performance the; and_ should receive the hearty as- sistance of all men. Saturday evening the jurymen on the reg- ular jury were discharged from further at- tendance this term, but few of them knew of the fact, supposing their discharge was for Sunday alone, and yesterday morning some of them were on hand for duty. At 9 o'clock nothing was ready for the attention of the court, and an_adjournment was or dered until 2 p. m. At that hour the equity cases sct for the term were called. The entertainment given last evening at the Congregational church by the Rev. Joseph E. Roy, D. D., was very entertaining and instructive. It was in the nature of an illustrated lecture, the eubject being “‘Indi- ans, Negroes, Chinese.” The illustrations were flucand the information. which was missionary in its character was most forcibly impressed upon the minds of the audience. Mrs. Emma Althouse, of Bennington Hill, while suffering from absce in the bowels last August, fell intothe fivst of a series of what supposed by many to have been mediamistic trances, says a special to the New York World. The attending physician applied every remedy known to medical the patient remained unconscious for three days hts, during all that time not opening her eyes nor uttering one word. It was impossible to give her any food except a few drops of water or milk, which she was, however, scarcely able to swallow, owing to delirious clos- ing of the teeth. At the end of three days the doctor finally succeeded in arousing her, and she ‘lay wide awake for several da xpressing no _desire for either food, drink or sleep. this waking spell the absce: gathered, and then she would again be- come unconscious for several days from austion, during which nature was id to be working its gradual cure. Graham was in town most of last week dividing his money between the salcons and the court, and ended up without enough to pay his fine, $8.10. The minutes of the two preceeding meetings last past were read and approved. Petition from Mayne & Hazelton and the park comw- wissioners for the grading of Cherry street quantities of water, administered by the teaspoonful, were generally wasted upon the sur! face of her lips. The at- tending physician now expresses hope of her ultimate recovery. He says these trances are the result of exhaus- tion from the effcets of pain, and the long periods of unconsciousness have saved her life.
