Mr, Blodgett was arraigned in court vesterday on the criminal charge v and when asked what was his aid “not guilty,” and demanded an im- e trial. “This,” the court stated, ‘“‘can e given you as there is no money in sury for witness fees.” Mr. Blod- gett, in the eagerness for his trial, stated that if the United States too poor to furnish witnesses for the trial he would advance the money to procure the witnesses and allow the case to g0 on. He gave $300 bonds to appear _ June 15, The grounds upon which the Lincoln attor- ney was indicted were that he had tampered with a juryman in a case that was on trial during the January term of court in Lin- coln and that he had taken said juryman to his ofice during the course of the trial and thoroughly filled him with good, strong whisky. An attache of the place named Frank Cotton, in an attempt to make his grate fire burn more rapidly threw upon it some kerosene which he had pla in a basin. The oil burst into a flame_when it struck the coals and burned Cotton badly about the hands. He had not ~ emptied the basin, k Ty and opening a door on the side of the kitchen threw out the blazing pan. As it reached the ground the liquid was dashed upon David Mahoney, and instantly his clothes were in a blaze.
