Reading was active and there was o fair trading in Pacitic Mail. The market was firm and slight advances were established over the entire list, while Reading showed decided strength, advancing ¥ per cent. Later prices receded from the best figures, but St. Paul & Duluth continucd strong, scoring an advanee of 1 per cent. The stock market atter 11 o'clock became still duller if possibie than during the first hour, but prices again recovered their firm tone, thoug!i the changes in quota- tions were few and insignificant, except for 8t. Panl & Duluth, the gain In which was 3i¢ per cent from the opening price. ‘Ihe close was very dull and firm to strong. GOVERNMENTS—Giovernment bonds were dull but steady. YESTERDAY'S QUOTATIONS.
