B8r1ooks—To-day's stock market has been decidedly more active than yesterday's, but there has been & continuation of the weakness of yesterday from the opening until near the closs. First prices wers generally a little lower than the closing auotations cf last evening, but they were at or near the highest quotations reached to-day, and there was enrly developed a decided weakness, particu- larly in Omahas and Northwestern. There is not a single active stock that shows any ad- vance, It is claimed that the rec nt advance in Northern Pacific was for the purpose of aasisting o syndicate in disposing of £15,000, 000 second morgage bonds taken by it some time azo, and that the profits of the recent heavy shipments to this country, which ‘came over the Northern Pacific road, was little or nothing, for the reason that the Pacifio mail out ucean rates about fifty per cont.
