Talk That More Are Needed to Ac- commodate the Pupils, The growtk of Council Bluils is show- ing itself in various ways. Among them 1s the claim of tome of the board of edu- cation that, although Counsil Bluffs has about fourteen large free schcol build ings, atlll mrs are even now needed to accommodate the pupils. About two years ago the Thirteenth avenue school houte wan bullt, having three rooms, and_ac- commodates 150 pupils, The Hall school house bullt thres years sgo is crowded, and the Third street school house, built last year with six rooms, and accommodations for 300 pupils is so crowded that ft will bs necessary to change the boundarles, and cause_some to attend clsewhere, The new Plerce street achool houss s filling up so rapldly [ 2 that it will be filled next term, The Blcomer building can accommodate no more. With these facts, It is urged that steps must soon be taken to put up other buildings. Beautiful embroideries at Bros, Harkness T —— PERSONAL. Scott Williama returns to Los Angelos next dag E. It ap- pears that Tune Green, who bas skipped for Omaha, got Ollie Jackson, who had once worked at Harriogton’s to tell how the rear window was fastened, and told Jackson he intended to break in tkere. The night of the bur- glary Green told Jackson agaln what he was going to do, and returned to the house where Jackeon was. bringing the stolen overcoat, decanter of gin, anda lot of clgars. He sold some of the cigars to Beacham and Seviner, but it did not appear that they knew anything about the burglary. They were dis charged, and the juc¢ge reservid his de- clston as to yourg Jackson, who will in the meantime be held in custody. From what the others ssy, it appears that Green is the one who did the work, and the officers are anxlous to get him. Green has been going from bad to worse very fast. It was not long since he first attracted public attentlon by sollciting fands for the colored church and then losing the collection by gambling. Sinca then he has been arrested on (taer of- fenses, and now a heavy charge awa'ts his roturn to the city. He Is supposed to be lingering in Omaha. e —— Lace curtains at Harkness Broa, ———— Resolutions of Respect, At a meeting of Council Bluffs lodge, No. 49,1 0. 0.
