6 THE DAILY BEE, COUNCIL BLUFFSTHURSDAY NOVEMBER 27 1864. 29 sls of the heart, November 22. Tha other of the twins, George, died early in September, The double scrrow thus coming to Mr. Mackenzie and his wife in their now home awakens much sympathy on the part of their many friends hero. THE DAILY BEE. A DESTITUTE {VOMAN JOUNCIL BLUFFS. Thursday Morning Nov. 27. Those Who are Ready to Give Thanks Shonld be Ready to Give Sub- stantials Also, Bowman, Rohrer & Co. yestorday 80ld | . yyontion of Tur Bue was called yosterday to a woman named Mrs, Hib. ler, who lives at No. 507 onupper Broad- way. From what could be learned from the neighbors and feom herself, it appears that she is a widow with one child, aged about two years. She has managed by hard work to support herself and child in a scanty way, but lately was taken sick and helpless. She has been actually suf- fering for food and fuel, and an appeal to the county finally resulted in her be- ing given a stove, but during the cold weather of late she has been without fuel, and her only means of keeping her little child warm was to keep icIn bed. The neighbors have had thelr attentien called to the case, and some of them have been trying to get some relief for the woman from the county, and have been themselves sending in food and fuel. The county physician is now attending her, but there are many necessities, not to speak of laxurios, which she should have. Some of the neighbors feel that the county should make better provisions for such cases, but while official action is always slow and very economical In such cases, the woman and her child should not be al- lowed to suffer in sush a land of plentf. and the generous-hearted citizens should supply her wants before they content themselves in sitting down to well- spread boards, and returning thanks. Cook no less time with Smith & Orit- tenden. They also have houses at Dan bury and at Defiance in this state. A young man aged twenty-two years, and giving his name as EdMcMann, was before Judge Aylesworth yesterday on a charge of vagrancy. It appeared from anawers roceived to the judge's questions that the young man had worked all sum- mer and had earned about $125 above ex- penses, but had fritted his money away and found himself out of money, out of work and without friends, while cold weather was coming on. The judge gave him a talk on economy and let him loose. OFFICE: Noar Broadway. MINOR MENTION. Now goods at Bliss'. H. R, Stewart, artist, at Chapman's, Soe J. Reiter's new atock of cloths.
