In the city there were ocontests in two wards only, the Third and Sixth, In the first mentioned ward the hoodlums aad transient citizens, headed by the frisky Smichdt, Sahler and Wi ht, sucoeeded in carrying i the primaries without resorting to the disreputable act of stealing the tickets or kioking over the ballot box. The close proximity of Schmidt’s saloen to the polling place had a talismanic influence toward inducing the trinity’s satellites to vote for the ticket nominated in a caucus where eight republicans only were present. A Chicago paper of recent date from reliabl reports from nearly all points in this stato estimates that Nebraska's corn arop for this year will exceed 120,000,000 bushels, an amount incomprehensible to the human mind.
