T. Leavirr, county clerk. — POLICE COURT. The First Session of Police Court Un- der the New Regulations. The first sesston of police “court under the new regulations was held yesterday. There was a jlarge crowd of specta tors outside to witness the show, while the prisoners’ seats were nearly all taken. Mitchell, a cripple who has a new name for every day in the week, was arrested for drunkenness. He has been before the court several times and the complaint was changed to vagrancy and he was sentenced to ten days in the county jail. Chauncy Whitting and Ellen Whitting man and wife, were arrested fordrunken- ness. They pleaded notfguilty but the officers and witnesses were on hand and aurial was had then and there. The prisoners were found guilty and the man was fined $10 and cosis and the woman §5 and costs, In default of pay- ment they were both sent to_jail. Ellen Smith was up for drunkenness. Ellen is a working woman but she will indulge in beer and always gets an over- dose. It was her third appearance in po- lice court in a few weeks. She was fined 5 and costs and sent to jail in default of sayment. Michacl Troy was arrested for bresking down & door,but upon paying the damage the party making complaint withdrew the same and Michael was released. John Ashland was arrested at the in- stanco of one Davis who keeps a junk shop near the depot. His case was con- tinued, Three hoys were up for sleeping in barns.
