The City Water Works Tests Ofcialy Approved, The Other Doings of the Aldermen. At an adjourned meeting of the city council yesterday afternoon, the mayor presided, and Aldermen Siedentopf, Me- Mahon, Wood, Eicher and Keating were present. Alderman Siedentopf called attention to the new patent nozzle shown up at the late test of the water works, brought over from Omaha, they being specially needed in fighting fires. They are commonly “nown as ‘‘sprayers,” or ““fire fightors.” He moved that the fire committee be authorized to purchase four of these and two lighter ones, Carried. Alderman Keating, of the fire commit- toe, reported that they had not located a team and hose wagon on lower Main street. There was one stable they could got at one dollar a day, including feed for the team. It was opposite the Crystal mills. The committee was instructed to c'ose the armangements. The following were selected as the judges and clerks for the coming city election: First Ward—R. T. Bryant, John Hale, clerks; A. J. Bump, J.J. Jennings, C. G. Hagoarty, judges. In com- liance with your order of the 20th inst, sinofin me to provide for the measur- ment of six simultaneous streams of water from the hydrant designated by you I have to report that the neces: apparatus for observing each of the streams at the same time was placed position in readines for the required test at 10 o’clock this a, m. The language of the o nce is that the company *‘shall furnish the said city for fire protection a sufticient supply of water except in times of unavoidable casualties, so that with fire protection apparatus turned on, it shall be able to discharge or throw at least six streams of water simultaneously out of one inch nozzles to a height of one hundred feet in any part of the main business portion of the city and at least two'such streams tion he was in. Mr. Lindt looked the horse over and then the young man rode off saying he must hurry off to the farm. Tt appears that instead of going back with the horse he sold it to glr. C. R. Mitchell, for 850, and then left on the train, An officer was sent after him, and he will now have a chance to explain his queer actions. Campbell is said to have borne a good reputation, aside from being “‘a little wild,” and it is a surprise to his acquaintances that he should go into horse stealing in any form. e AL NOT' To Consumers of Water, The Council Blugs City Waterworks Company hereby announces that it will put in Service Pipes to the curb of the stroet on the line of its mains, as soon as the frost is out of the ground, for all par- ties who desire to have connections made with the street mains and who will make application therefor to the company Brrone Maron 10, 1884, at the following prices, payable in ad- vance: These prices include the cost of open- ing the ing and closing the streot, tapp inert- street water main, furnishing ane ing co-operation cock, furs k putting in extra strong lead service pipe, furnishing and putting in curb stop, stop box and cover complote, and making all necessary connections between tho street water main and the curb of the atreet, which are about oye-half the cost to the consumer of doing'the same work.
