From seen Bocoming interested and envious, a Ber reporter pressel forward into the crowd, up the stairway, and, slipping past the sentinel at tea door, stood within the gates of what, to all apearances, was a fairy bower, and but for the sea of human faces which met his wonder- ing gaze every side, he would have pronounced it a dream, too grand to be a reality. While standing thus, Bishop Clarkson and his estimable lady advanced, and, tending their hands, bid us weleome. We now came to ourself and proceeded to “‘take in” what was before us. A bazaar is generally supposed to be o place where trinkets and worthless nick nacks are gathered together and offered for nale at fabulous prices, In this in- stance this is not the case; far from i There is on exhibition and for sale in Falconer's hall #2200 worth of toys, fancy goods, glassware, dolls, stationery, oil paintings, candy, and in fact almost everything under these heads that one could imagine. As one onters the hall the first thing that greots the eys is the CANDY STAND, which is located in the center of the It is threc-cornered in shape, and overhead are flags and evergreen trimmines, while two laughable sign cards inform the visitor of the nature of the goods for sale. Mrs, Bishop Clarkson has been instrumental in bringing aoout this atate of things and has labored with unceasing effor's and untiring energy to give to Omaha what will prove a great help and blessing. Through her effurts the goods now on eale were received, and she has also received a large amount of clothing, bed clothing and cribs and other furni ture for the hospital, Several of our leading physicians have voluntarily tendered their services to theinstitution, and now all that remains to be done is for the citizens of Omaha to visit the bazaar and_purchase the goods offered for sale. The bazaar will be continued until Saturday night and we trust that nearly, if not _quite all the goods, will be disposed of by that time. The ladies expect to realiza £2,000 from the bazaar and dining hall, which is none too much, ll things considered. A Warnkag to Parents With Artillery in the House, arly last week & sp Tue Ber from Kearney gave an account of the fatal result of playing with the family shot-gun. The fcllowing addi- onal particulars were brought out at the inquest he'd Wednesday: *It appears that Mr. H. J. Hodge and wife, living in Beaver precinct, near Swootwater postoflice, left their residence shortly be- fore dark to attend a school meeting abont a mile distant, leaving their three children, a lad named Walter, aged six teen, and Mertio and Mary, aged ten and thirteen yoars, at home during their absence, It had been the habit of the boy to take down his father's gun and play with it. He had been consured for this, butas soon as the parents went away he again took down the shot- gun, and calling to his sisters, they went out doors and commenced playing ‘*deer,” tLe little girls playin the part of deer. The little girls rolle around on the ground in imitation of crippled decr, when Walter raised the gun and fired, killing Mertio almost in- stantly, alarge part of the charge enter- ing her head, and probably fatally wound- ing Mary, eleven shot being buricd in her neck and shoulders. As soon as Walter saw the horrible effect of tho shothe picked Mortio up and ran with her into the house, placing her on the bed, and then took his wounded sister in. Walter is a Iad who seems de- void of gensibility enough to realize the enormity of the accident, and is none too bright. ~ His parents had warned him not to snap caps or point the gun at any per- son, and the accident was due sololy to his disobedience. The verdict brought in by the jury was that the girl's death resulted from a gun shot wound, and the shooting was a oial dispatch to Alligon, Hutchinson, Kan.: At the left of the stairway is one of the rendered. —Wm, Hubeck, who had bean & hartender at Wechback’s saloon, on Farnam utreet, bo- came delirious on Thanksgiving dsy and set fire to the bedding and clothing in his room, He was ¥o badly burned that he died Satur- day, ~—Max Moyer & Bro, have fust put u; elegant clock in the front part of their jewelry store, It is about seven foot in holght and the casing is made to match the woodwork in tho story, It is of their own manufacture and cost ]330, ~—About forty couples atiended tho mas- querade ball givon by the “invincible five" in Qrounse’s hell Tues lay evening.
