A move Is being made rather quietly, but with hope of success, for the securing of a union depot for Council Bluffs. The details of the arraugement are not com- ploted and the matter is atill largely one of talk. A committee of the city coutcil have gone to Chicago in the intcrest of the project, and the plan in general seoms to be to have a union depot built nearer the center of town than the Union Pacific depot. It is understood that the Iowa roads favor such a plan and that possibly the Union Pacitic may bo brought to see that it is to its iuterest to join in the enterprise. The present trausfer depot is 8o far away from Council Bluffs proper that 1t is of little practical benefit to the city itaelf. What the result of the interview with the Chicago railway officials will amount to is & matter of prediction.
