Suow LOOAL BRuVITIHS. —The council some time ago passed a resolution suthorizing the chief engincer to Investigate the condition of the old rrookeries lying) east of the Metropolitan, and the old Bellevue house and if found dangerous to have them condemned and torn down, Nothing has been done yet so far ae'ls known, but the chief would merit the gratitude of the long suffering public 1f he would cause to be torn down all that old property on the block occupied by the Metropolitan, which is the rendervous of the worst and most dangerous characters in the city as well as a regular tinder box which may tumble down and cause a con- fiagrstion sny day.
