The Result of a Twenty-four Hourg’ Slecp in & Snow Bank, The Victim May Live Yet. A terrible case of freesing s re- ported as haviog occurred near Deni. son, a few days ago, the victim being & young man named Keller, a brother of Ohris, Keller, who lives about five milesthis sideof that place. He arrived on the morning train from the east, and haviog no sleep the night previous and no breakfast, the train being late, he was very much exhausted, and in this condltion started out for his brother's house on foot. There wasa blinding storm and the mercury was vory low. On the way his strength gave out, the drifts making hard wading and his physical condition not being the best for ruch a hard tramp He concluded to ¢is down for a few minutes rest, and exhausted nature gave way. He fell asleep and there remained until wbout noon the next day, when he awoke, think- 1hg that he had slept but for a few mioutes, on attempting to move he found that his feet, hands, nose and oars were badly frozen, the natural re- sult of a twenty-four hours’ sleep in icoand snow The on'y marvel is that he woke at all, and that on waking he did not find himself worse frozen than ho was. It was with great diffisulty thav he released hlmse f from thé icy fotters which bound him, crawled out of the suor, and on his hende managed to arag himeelf toward the nearest house, some «f the inmates of which had their attention attracted so that they raa out and helped him in. He was then taken to his brother’s residence and medical help called, It in thought that both feet and both hands will have to be amputated to save the man's lifo, and it is doabtful | b if, after the foarini exposure, his ays tom has sufficient vitalicy to stand the operation, When you want to get Iowa coal that is almost if not quite equal to Wyoming, call for the Frederick, at A. H. Mayne & Co. ARSI CUUNOIL BLUFF3 TU OMAHA., . Oouncil Bluffs has two mills that will compare with any in the weat, not for slze, and yet they are extensive, but for quality of products. There are no breadstuffs made in any city, either in Minnesota or elsewhere, that will surpass our flour, because the roller system, the best in the world, ia the one both of our mills are using Omaha has no compotition with Coun- cil Bluffs in this particular, and neigh- facturers a fair chanco over the river These remarks have been called forth by the fact that our mill owners com- plain that while on prices they more than compete, and in quality they have the endorscment of the most critlcal experts, yet that inferior flour has the preference over the river, and there Is absolutely no Council Bluffs flour in the Omaha market, Now this Is all wrong, unjast and anything but neighborly. Give Ool. Hoffmayer and Mr, Evans a chance in your markets, and their goods will take care of themselves after that. Councll Bluffs buys the wheat for her mills in Nebraska and pays the highesat prices for the best grades. Much of this money must eventually find its way to Omaha, thus keeping the cash in the country, iunstead of sending it far away from the channels of Miszouri Valley trade. Messrs, FrENcE, GLADSTONE, HEIM oD, BRUNNER, GENTLEMAN, HaNLEY, Guip, Nicnows, Freming, and all the far-seelng grocers of Omaha will ap- preciate the {mportance of this mat- ter, and it is to you we appeal. ‘We are your nelghbors, and have a olaim that is prior to any asserted by manufacturers hundreds of miles away.
