There was some doubt as to whether the council coald elect two assessors without dividing the city into two distriots, and the sessment raised for the coming year, there will naturally be more than the usual number of kickers, and there belng some doubt as to whether the council hae acted legally in elect- ing two assessors for one district, a loop-hole might be thus left open for some to escape if they shall fight the payment of taxes.
